Through the Global Lens

For the second year, the International Student Advisory presented a glimpse into the world as seen through the photographic lens of students, staff, and faculty. The exhibition in Bakers Lounge attracted a large audience. The People’s Choice Award, a favourite amongst visitors, received over 250 votes. An independent panel of judges, comprised of two Carleton staff members and a student, chose three other award winners.

The photos ranged from perspectives on the manufactured world, to nature and humanity served, as an important message of what it means to be a global citizen and the common threads that weave our communities together. “Through the Global Lens” was a valuable opportunity to reflect on community, humanity, and our world. In these troubled times it reminded us of the beauty and diversity of our world as things to be treasured and protected.

This is an annual event that is gaining popularity, as more people are willing to share their visions of the world, while celebrating Carleton’s strong multicultural and international identity.
