On Our Way

We are nearing our target for another successful United Way Campaign on this campus but we still have a small way to go to meet our goal. As of November 20, we are at 91 percent of our $145,000 target.

The University’s participation in the United Way is important to us both as an institution and as individuals because it provides an opportunity to get involved in supporting and enhancing the community in which we live and work. The theme for this year’s campaign was “Make a Difference in Someone’s Life” and I’m sure that most of you have at some time benefited from the 100 agencies that work to build a strong, healthy and safe community, so it is important that we go over the top.

If you have already contributed, I’d like to thank you for your support. If you haven’t yet made your contribution, there is still time. If you don’t know your canvasser, you can send your donation directly to Irene Emery in the Business Office.

The campaign depends on more than 14,000 volunteers in the City who believe that the United Way does make a difference. I’d like to acknowledge their effort in making the campaign happen each year. At Carleton, we have a small and committed group of volunteers who year after year give their time and talent to support our campaign and many other activities on campus. I would like to say a special thank you to these employees who are the heart and soul of this institution. Also, my congratulations to Anne Newton in the Library who was awarded the Barbara Wells Award as the outstanding volunteer on this year’s campaign.
