Dasa Farthing-Carleton University’s 2004 OUA “Woman of Influence”

Farthing, co-captain and guard of the Ravens women’s basketball team came to Carleton from her native Slovakia to earn a degree in Criminology/Law and continue her Basketball career.

Farthing is entering her fourth year at Carleton, earned the title of OUA East Defensive Player of the Year for averaging 3.3 steals per game and guarding the OUA’s top offensive players during the 2003-04 regular season. She has also been named a CIS Academic All-Canadian the past two years.

Carleton coach gets national interest

This November, Carleton Ravens’ men’s basketball coach Dave Smart was interviewed for the chance to be hired as the head coach of the Canadian men’s national basketball team. Smart was among several prospective candidates who were interviewed. Smart has been the recipient of two Canadian Interuniversity Sport championships, four straight Ontario University Athletics East Division regular-season titles, was named CIS coach of the year in 2003 and has received the OUA East coach of the year three times.
