Safety Tip of the Month

Over the past six weeks, the Department of University Safety has received nine reports of property theft on campus. In the majority of cases, the owner has left valuables unattended momentarily and returned to find they have been stolen. Most commonly stolen items include laptop computers and backpacks. The community is cautioned not to leave items unattended.

Summary

As we move into exam season, the Department of University Safety encourages students to be aware of their surroundings. While studying, ensure you are within view of your belongings at all times. Take special care when writing exams and avoid bringing valuables into the exam room. Those requiring a safe walk after a study session or exam are encouraged to phone the Department of University Safety at 613-520-3612.
