University Safety News

Last winter, during the month of December, the Department of University Safety (DUS) received 27 reports of thefts – 17 of which occurred in the Physical Recreation Centre. As we move into the exam period, DUS would like to remind the Carleton community of key theft prevention measures.

It is important to take special precautions when writing or proctoring exams and avoid bringing any valuables into the exam room. Never leave personal belongings unattended as unguarded articles are an easy target for thieves. We also suggest that students, staff and faculty take advantage of our Operation Identification Program which encourages people to mark their valuables in some distinctive fashion. DUS offers electric graving tools which can mark your valuables with unique and custom designs or numbers.
