Retirees association news

The association had a “combibulation” (i.e., a gentle meeting at the bar) on Friday, January 18, 2008. Pension & Benefits Specialist Neil Courtemanche and Benefits Officer Jacques Charron (both of the Carleton University Department of Human Resources) gave a short presentation on pension and health benefits-related matters. After a lively question period, everyone was considerably wiser and grateful to our speakers.

The next “combib” will be held on February 15, 2008 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Baker’s Grille. There is also a movement afoot to introduce bridge games, and possibly also chess. A more formal dinner meeting is planned for March 14.

The Carleton University Retirees Association invites all retired and former employees to stay connected with their university friends and colleagues. To become involved with the association and have your name added to the association’s mailing list, either visit the website at carleton.ca/retirees or contact Don Wiles in the Department of Chemistry at 613-520-2600, ext. 3836.
