Police officers from across Canada and the U.S. assembled at the Carleton Fieldhouse before marching to the funeral of Ottawa police Const. Eric Czapnik, who was murdered Dec. 29.

Ten PhD candidates from Carleton and the University of Ottawa successfully completed a five-day University Teaching Skills Certificate program presented by Carleton’s Educational Development Centre. The King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals (Saudi Arabia), where all participants will return as professors after completion of their PhDs, sponsored the course.

U.S. Ambassador David Jacobson spoke at the launch of the newly founded Carleton Research Centre for American Studies. Based in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, the new research centre is the brainchild of three Carleton professors, Director Priscilla L. Walton and Co-directors Melissa Haussman and Andrew Johnston.

Carleton staff met with a delegation from three Palestinian universities to discuss institutional research.

The Carleton Ravens men’s and women’s basketball teams were victorious over the University of Ottawa Gee Gee’s at the Capital Hoops Classic. Ravens guard Elliot Thompson helped the men win 74 to 66 and Ravens guard Courtney Smith contributed to the women’s 53 to 40 victory.
