University Safety News

Safety Tip of the Month

Since the beginning of January, the Department of University Safety has received seven reports of theft from various locations on campus. Most of these were thefts from lockers located in the tunnels. The most common items stolen at this time of year are textbooks, due to their resale value at the beginning of terms. Students are reminded to properly secure all belongings when using a locker. Athletics offers lockers suited for valuable items such as cellphones and wallets.

Summary

The Department of University Safety would like to remind the Carleton community of the importance of staying connected. It is helpful to be aware of your surroundings and to add the assistance number (520-4444) into your cellphone. The department welcomes any report of suspicious activity and encourages you to phone for assistance in any situation where you feel uncomfortable or are in need of help. Safety is a shared responsibility and we thank the staff, students and faculty for helping to maintain a safe community.
