Letter to the editor: Ontario science teacher outreach program a success

I’m writing in response to the wonderful article that appeared in the December issue of Carleton Now regarding my class’s adventure at the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory and my involvement with Ontario’s TSTOP program. The students were thrilled to see their picture in a university newspaper. I was also able to send a copy home with each student and the parents were excited to read about the experience.

David Kawai, your photographer, was also received with great enthusiasm when he used his digital camera, which was three times the size of our class camera, to take really fun shots of our class with Dr. David Sinclair.

The whole experience was a pleasure for me and my class. I think these types of opportunities, in the class setting, add great value to the whole learning experience. Thank you for taking the time to share our adventure into the world of astro- physics with your readers.

Susan Dubois, Grade 6B teacher First Avenue Public School
