Re: Award winner a role model for young women

Thank you very much for sending along a copy of the article about our daughter Shauna Mullally that appeared in the November edition of Carleton Now. My husband and I were so touched by the content and the attention to detail it displayed. A number of our friends read the article and were moved by its positive, encouraging tone. In fact, a copy of the paper that was destined for a retired university professor was delivered in error to a friend of ours who lives next door and he called us to comment on it! Other feedback we received came from one of Shauna’s high school teachers who commented on the “amazing photo and article in Carleton Now about Shauna, who is already changing the world in a positive way. We are all very proud of her at Pius.” As well, a retired biology professor who lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia, encouraged us to frame it and said: “Words cannot be superlative enough to tell you how wonderful these accolades are. One rarely gets such recognition. How assiduously she has worked for this . . . it is well earned.” We framed the copy of the article you sent us and gave it to Shauna as a Christmas present — she will treasure this recognition even more as years go by.

Sincerely,

Maryalice Mullally
