Federal S&T strategy welcomed by Canadian universities

Canada’s universities say the federal government’s new science and technology (S&T) strategy charts an important and ambitious course for the country. According to Claire M. Morris, president of the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC), the S&T strategy inspires all Canadians to build new knowledge, talent and entrepreneurial advantages. Morris believes that Canada needs to secure its position as a world leader in research—including university research—and this strategy will help to meet that mark. The AUCC welcomes Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s strong commitment to building Canada’s S&T assets and expertise.
