Dave Stewart – Business Office

I wasn’t really very aware of United Way until I came to Carleton. I heard the statistic that one in three people use one of the agencies supported by the United Way. It really hit home that in a community the size of Carleton, there would easily be a large number of my colleagues, friends and their families that have benefited from the services supported by United Way.

I have been impressed by the devotion of Carleton faculty and staff to this very worthy cause, and as a person involved in finance, I can appreciate the efficiency in having one umbrella organization handle the fundraising and distribution of funds for so many worthy causes. I found the flexibility of payroll deduction very useful. Plus, the thought that by giving up just one cup of coffee a week, I could make a real difference in the lives of others, was very humbling.
