Welcome to the Carleton University Writing Competition.
This contest celebrates original, unpublished works of prose (short story or creative nonfiction), poetry (any style or form) and spoken/performance poetry and is open to all Carleton University staff, faculty, students (including those in Learning in Retirement), alumni and retirees.
The competition will reopen on Monday, September 15, 2014 and close on Thursday, December 18, 2014 (midnight). Submit online this year!
What is creative non-fiction? No single definition exists but according to Canada’s Creative Nonfiction Collective Society, the emphasis in this writing form is on the use of inventive and dramatic techniques to support fact-based narratives written in a personal, identifiable voice. Included are memoirs, history, literary journalism and personal or journalistic essays.
